To dress yourself slim  DO

  • Choose deep colours. Black is the most slimming of all. But, don't be afraid to wear nice colours too
  • Wear comfortable, low heels. Trousers should hang down to the middle of the heel
  • Buy long cardigans or single-breasted jackets that fall below your hips
  • Wear well-fitting softly-tailored shirts
  • Choose monochromatic colours. Top and bottom clothing should be the same or similar colours
  • Make your legs look longer, with knee-length skirts
  • Wear earrings, necklaces, and scarves to draw attention upward to your face
  • Choose shoes with a 2 inch heel to look taller and slimmer. If you're comfortable in higher heels they're good too

  • To dress yourself slim   DON 'T

  • Try to squeeze into a size 10 if you are a size 12. Don't try to fool yourself, you're not fooling anyone else
  • Wear heavy fabrics, they will make you look fatter. Choose finer, silkier materials
  • Choose shapeless, baggy clothing which will only make you appear heavier
  • Wear horizontal stripes, which make you appear wider, instead consider vertical stripes, which make you look taller and slimmer
  • Wear tight clothes: they only draw attention to problem areas
  • Choose trousers, or skirts with pleats, elastic or drawstring waists which add to your waist size; look for flat-fronted trousers and skirts
  • Choose floral prints or other large patterns
  • Slouch and look sorry for yourself. Stand up straight and smile!
